Celebrating Joe Henderson’s birthday month, Jalen Baker’s quintet featuring saxophonist Jason Hainsworth presents an evening dedicated to the legendary recorded collaborations of Henderson and Bobby Hutcherson. Drawing from the adventurous spirit of the Blue Note era, the group explores music that is soulful, expressive, and rhythmically charged, blending intricate post-bop compositions with bold improvisation and dynamic interplay. Houston-raised vibraphonist Jalen Baker has emerged as one of the leading voices of his generation, while saxophonist Jason Hainsworth, a Houston native now based in San Francisco, is widely respected for his warm tone and deep connection to the Texas tenor tradition. Together, they bring the swing, depth, and creative fire of two jazz masters to life.
